If you are ever wondering who was one of the best musical artists of all time most people would say prince, and yes some people would say that their are better music artists than him, but what makes him special is that he was much more than a music creator. He was in his own movie that had box office records, he also won a grammy and he won an oscar for purple rain! And not only could he just play the guitar, he could play almost all the instruments he needed to play! I bet you didn't know that much about him, so i'm going to tell you about prince's life from beginning to end.
Prince Rogers Nelson was born on June 7th 1958 in Minneapolis Minnesota with his father John Nelson and his mother Mattie Shaw. Since most of his family was surrounded by music he started playing the piano and then eventually made his first song at age Seven! Then he started to play much more instruments like the guitar, bass, and drums. however this did not mean that he had an amazing childhood, he had epilepsy which made other people tease him about his size and his parents got divorced when he was only 12. But all he needed to do to make himself happy was to make music.
Price started his first band called grand general, he wore funky clothes and was loud. His kind of music was funk, disco, rock, rhythm, blues and gospel. People though he sounded amazing so music producers were trying to get a contract with him. His second band was called the revolution. This band had black and white, male and female and even wore some clothes that were weird, but they didn't care.
In 1999 his band made one of the best albums of all time, and this album was called “Purple Rain.” This album was featured in a movie that starred prince. and not only was the movie and the album amazing they both won awards! He got 1 oscar and 1 grammy just from that album and movie. And about 22 years later Prince was chosen to play music in the super bowl halftime show which many people think is the best halftime performance of all time. And in 2004 he was put in the rock and roll hall of fame. he also performed in a 2010 NFC Championship game and even made a new song for his team called “Purple and Gold.”
Prince will go down as one of the best musicians of all time, But something that made him amazing was that with all the funky clothes and how he was acting on stage just proved who he was. All he was doing was doing what he loved to do. So it's proving that he just wants other people to be themselves and don't hold it back. and what made him even more incredible was that he inspired so many more music artists to. But you are normally thinking of other rock bands or funk bands and dont hear that much of prince. but the truth is he gets recognized by the music community but not as much as bands not as good as his.
After all of these amazing things that happened in his life it is crazy how amazing he was with all of his cool music and his famous movie. but sadly everyone's life has to come to an end And so had Princes. In 2016 April 21th in Minnesota he was found dead from an overdose of opioids. but his music is still amazing, and he will go down in history as one of the best musicians of all time.
